Bamford looks set to become Leeds' second summer signing following confirmation that left-back Barry Douglas has joined from Premier League club Wolves.

Despite their Vydra blow, Leeds have focused their attentions on Patrick Bamford and are close to signing the Middlesbrough forward for around £7m. Bamford has committed himself to an four-year contract at Elland Road.

He failed to make a first-team appearance at Chelsea and had loan spells at MK Dons, Derby, Middlesbrough, Crystal Palace, Norwich and Burnley.

Middlesbrough paid £6million to seal a permanent move for him in January 2017 and he scored 13 goals in all competitions last season, including a hat-trick against Leeds at the Riverside in March.

For Bamford, it will be a chance to fully rectify his career and to show off the skills that he possesses.

Signing a striker this summer has been a priority of Marcelo Bielsa's since he joined the Whites a couple of months ago as their new boss and could be on the verge of finally bringing someone in.

"Now that everything is finalised I'd just like to thank Boro and everyone associated with the club for this past year and a half. A special mention to the fans who always gave me their full support".
