Coinbase announced that it is in the final stages of testing support for Ethereum Classic (ETC) as it gets ready to offer support for the coin on its different platforms per a blog post on Friday, August 3.

It should be reminded that Coinbase announced Ethereum Classic listing in mid June.

In 2016, Ethereum hard fork was created that caused many customers to have a balance of Ethereum Classic on Coinbase Pro and Coinbase Prime.

In the case of Coinbase Markets however, trading will be opened after a 24-48 hour window period within which Coinbase Pro and Prime will carry out transfers. However, before the exchange allows trading to start, the inbound transfers will take place for a day or two to make sure that Coinbase Pro and Coinbase Prime, where ETC is going to be added, can provide enough liquidity.

Although Coinbase is confident about the date, it also noted that the date is subject to change. In line with platform trading policy, ethereum classic books will open in post-only for at least 10 minutes, after which trading on Pro and Prime will be activated as soon as sufficient liquidity is established. An asset is only listed on Coinbase Consumer after it has been added on Pro and Prime. The 24 hour trading volume of ETC is $272.8 million. The exchange added that further information will be provided to the public in the coming days regarding the listing status of ethereum classic. Separately, the company announced it is exploring the addition of 37 new virtual currencies to its custodial service, Coinbase Custody.

"Our engineering team is beginning final testing of Ethereum Classic on Coinbase products. They're doing a final testing right now and they anticipate having it on there".

ETC is the latest cryptocurrency to be supported by Coinbase.

"Looking forward to the Cardano addition too!"
