The Spain worldwide joined the Blues in 2017, from Spanish giants Real Madrid, and helped Chelsea to win the FA Cup last term beating Manchester United in the final.

Morata has also insisted that he wants to stay at Chelsea, saying: "On the first day of pre-season I spoke to [Chelsea Director Marina Granovskaia] and with the manager and I said: "I want to stay at Chelsea".

But the fact that Morata has picked a new shirt number with the Blues ahead of the new season would lead you to believe that he will be going nowhere.

Chelsea fans were in for a surprise when the club announced on Saturday that there was a new No.29 in town, but before they could celebrate the transfer, it was revealed that the man donning the 29 jersey was none other than record signing Alvaro Morata.

Morata will just be hoping a change of number will bring a chance of fortunes in front of goal. So everything was ideal.

"He was one of the best signings of the past year for Chelsea because now, when we have the ball, he is the key". I could have gone back to Italy. It is one hour to her home. "He was a disgrace up front today, I thought he was very bad and I think they're going to have to spend a lot of money over the next week". I have had low pressure, because I had already played in Italy and Spain and done good things. "Then to come back home and stay with my babies and my wife", Morata told The Mirror. "But I made a decision to stay here, I wanted to".

Although he ultimately had a tough time adapting on the pitch in England, he had some great news on a personal level over the summer as his partner Alice Campello gave birth to twins on July 29.
