In the latest episode of Baron Cohen's satirical sensation "Who is America?" the actor posed as a Finnish YouTuber called OMGWhizzBoyOMG (real name: Ladislas Kekkonen) who invites the self-styled "toughest sheriff in America" on his show. At one point, Arpaio looked downward at the toy and pointed his finger for emphasis as he argued that guns were an effective means of defense. He was convicted of contempt of court after he refused to stop racially profiling people, but President Trump pardoned him. The fake YouTuber somehow persuaded Arpaio to participate in an "unboxing" video, ostensibly to reveal the characters in a package of Shopkins - the wildly popular and tiny collectible toy figures - while he interviewed him about his career and friendship with President Donald Trump.

'There are several people who have thrown themselves in front of buses that may not be headed their way, ' he said Monday at the Television Critics Association's press tour. And while the public is divided on whether Cohen's elaborate pranks are some sort of bizarro service journalism or just juvenile trolling - the bigwigs at Showtime believe it to be really good for the bottom line. Who Is America ratings have climbed since the surprise premiere but, even better, it's been on the lips and tweetin' fingertips of culture definers and is making headlines all over cable news.

In response to the segment with Cohen, Arpaio's team released a statement praising his appearance and saying "Lighten up, it's comedy".

"It's obvious Joe didn't fully understand Borat", campaign communications director Jennifer Lawrence said in the tweet.

That moment followed a lead-in from Cohen's newest character, a Finnish YouTube star called OMGWhizzBoyOMG, who was chatting merrily about how "my first job was a hand job from my mother and it was newspapers".

The campaign of former state Sen.

"You have 43 guns?" Arpaio clearly heard Cohen say that, but continued with the interview anyway, where things took a turn toward the kinky when Cohen began asking Arpaio questions about Donald Trump and their relationship with each other.

Roy Moore, the defeated Alabama Senate candidate accused of sexual assault against teenagers, walked out of an interview with Baron Cohen after the comedian trolled him with a "pedophile detector", which he described as the latest "Israeli technology".
