Reward for missing Iowa jogger Mollie Tibbetts at $260000, breaking record

Authorities said Sunday, Aug. 5, a young woman's body was discovered in rural Lee County in the southwest part of the state - but said that person is not believed to be Mollie Tibbetts, the missing University of Iowa student.

Coincidentally, Tibbetts is white and 20 years old. It was the second time Wayne Cheney was spoken to by investigators and he continues to deny any involvement, reported Fox News. The farmer has not been charged in Tibbetts' case.

Cheney told Fox News that he refused to take a polygraph test and indicated that Federal Bureau of Investigation agents planned to return to his farm on Sunday.

Cheney said he never met Tibbetts.

According to WHO-TV's exclusive by reporter Justin Surrency, Cheney pleaded guilty in two previous stalking cases.

A reward for Tibbetts' safe return has risen to $260,000.

On July 19, after she failed to show up for work at a daycare center, her colleagues contacted her boyfriend to tell them they were anxious.

"It is our greatest hope that if someone has her that they would just release her and claim that money that we have raised for her freedom", Calderwood said.
