In case you didn't know, a live-action Sonic the Hedgehog movie (which will mix CGI with real life footage) is in the works. Following a release date that is nearly a short year away, we've already got a full cast assembled for the live-action/CGI hybrid film.

Here's a bit of movie casting that you didn't think of, yet kind of makes sense-Variety reports that Ben Schwartz of House of Lies and Parks and Recreation fame will voice the titular blue hedgehog in the Sonic the Hedgehog live-action movie.

Schwartz joins a cast that includes James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, and Jim Carrey. While the premise of the movie isn't known yet, it's safe to assume that the super-fast blue animal will clash against the might of the evil Doctor Robotnik. He'll be filling in for Roger Craig Smith, who usually voices the character in various games, as well as Wreck-it Ralph.

While Carrey's past form in playing outrageous characters (like The Grinch, for instance) is well-documented, Schwartz has prior experience in voice-acting, now lending his larynx to Dewey Duck in the rebooted Duck Tales series on the Disney Channel and confirmed as Leonardo in the Nickelodeon's "Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles".

Sonic is a cool hedgehog with plenty of attitude. Deadpool 1 director Tim Miller is producing.
