Dave Bautista will 'quit' Guardians if James Gunn script isn't used

While still negotiating his departure from the House of Mouse (particularly Marvel Studios), he can't take up any other offers, but several big players (both producers and studio executives) in the industry have voiced their desire to bring him over to their side.

Marvel and DC commentator Christopher Marcus just reported: "Looks like Marvel Studios may have indeed tossed out James Gunn's script for GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL.3".

The "cybernazis" Bautista refers to include alt-right media personality Mike Cernovich, who dug up Gunn's tweets with the goal of getting him fired, which is a pattern with this guy.

While the trade maintains the anonymity of the executives, they do confirm that numerous top studios in Hollywood are interested in Gunn, including Warner Bros. which rivals Marvel Studios in the superhero entertainment business with DC Films.

The former WWE Champion has found success playing Drax in the "Guardians of the Galaxy" films, and director James Gunn played a major role in shaping the first two films. THR says the Slither filmmaker is drawing interest from a variety of sources, from Warner Bros. That, and because the offensive tweets at the root of the issue were posted before he was hired by Disney, he technically wasn't in breach of contract.

This would be a huge development, though not entirely surprising - with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 still supposedly scheduled for a 2020 release with plans to go into production this fall, Disney is under a tight schedule and likely can't afford to rewrite the script and risk throwing their entire movie slate off schedule. The studio is also reportedly considering using the script that Gunn penned for the film, the absence of which is a deal breaker for co-star Dave Bautista. Is it because of Gunn's complicated exit negotiations? Do you think they should even make the third film?

The cast of the film has shared their support of Gunn in the situation, though they were careful not to pose any threats about their involvement with the upcoming film. Whether that will be back at Marvel or elsewhere is the question.
