Yet Mina failed to impress in making just six appearances for Barca after joining from Palmeiras in January and the Catalan giants were keen to cash in on the 23-year-old, who cost just 11.8 million euros seven months ago.

Harry Maguire, who could face United for Leicester on Friday, Bayern Munich's Jerome Boateng, Toby Alderweireld of Tottenham and Mina were all linked with United, while Atletico Madrid's Diego Godin emerged as a late target on Thursday.

Multiple reports said the Toffees also had reached a deal with Chelsea for the loan of defender Kurt Zouma, though that has yet to be confirmed with the deadline passed.

According to the aforementioned report, two more Barcelona stars are set to join Digne at Everton as Mina and Gomes allegedly passed their medicals at a hospital in Barcelona. "It's been a long, long saga has the Yerry Mina saga". Everton officials moved to Barcelona to finalise the deal that is believed to be worth around £35M.

Everton beat a host of Premier League and European clubs to the signing of Bernard with the Brazilian global becoming Marco Silva's fourth signing of the summer after Richarlison, Digne and Virginia.

"I can promise I will try my hardest and dedicate myself to my work and to trying to make things happen for Everton", Bernard added.
