Lane, like Hardy, also played defensive end in the NFL.

The season finale of the Dana White Tuesday Night Contender Series featured the return of former National Football League defensive end Greg Hardy, who scored a win on the first season of the show against Austen Lane.

The referee stepped in to stop the onslaught and hand Hardy a second pro win after his 57-second victory against Austen Lane in June.

"I think I sent a message. I'm here for business", Hardy said while stating his case for a shot in the UFC sooner rather than later. "I'm going to earn every single cent".

In the light heavyweight clash that came next, we saw Kenedy Nzechukwu vs Dennis Bryant. He has yet to have a fight last longer than 96 seconds, however, and he hasn't demonstrated that he has developed the wrestling and grappling ability necessary to become a true mixed martial artist.

Hardy competed in Dana White's Contender Series 16 on Tuesday in Las Vegas.

Gordon eventually collapsed to the mat, and Hardy finished the job with some vicious ground-and-pound.

Biggest question mark: Despite the two first-round finishes, Hardy has yet to be tested against a UFC-calibre opponent.

Former "Lookin' For a Fight" veteran Bobby Moffett made good on his pick up from White after he was first discovered at a regional card in Memphis.

The night started with Alex Gilpin facing J.R. Coughran and it started off fast and furious, with the two fighters trading strikes with one another.

Season 2's final contract winners would be Smith, Moffett, and Nzechukwu.

It improved the 6ft 5in heavyweight's record to 5-0 including amateur fights - all of which have come by way of knockout - as the former Dallas Cowboys and Carolina Panthers player seeks to make a name for himself in MMA, where he has signed a developmental deal with the UFC.

"Whenever you want me", Hardy said.
