"I was able to explain to him in detail how, the more defined your playing style is, the more hard transfers become, because either a player gives you something specific you're lacking, or you're better off not signing anyone".

"I am happy to keep all the squad together", said Pochettino.

"We have the captain of the world champion (Hugo Lloris, with France)".

"(For) the players that were involved in the World Cup, it was massive and so important to give a very good rest and recovery after a very tough season and World Cup and now it's a big challenge for us to try to provide them with the best tools to be competitive as soon as possible", Pochettino told Tottenham's official website.

"Sure, we are going to be better, no doubt about that".

"I don't like to talk about the players who are with other teams".

Numerous key men at Spurs only returned to training on Monday after successful campaigns at the World Cup. There is no point talking about players at another club. I think it is clear what is going on and how we are going to move in the future.

"I am so happy at the way they come back to training on Monday", he said.

Although the 5pm deadline for completing transfers is drawing perilously close, Manchester United are still believed to be trying to finalise a deal for Toby Alderweireld.

Alderweireld's teammates Danny Rose and Mousa Dembele were also expected to leave the club this summer but failed to get their moves over the line before the transfer deadline.

'We didn't receive for any player, ' Pochettino added.

Recounting a trip away with Levy, Pochettino wrote: "We spoke about why I prefer to give homegrown kids chances rather than signing players and the problems that can be caused by buying players you don't need". I am happy with all the players'.
