Takht is said to be Dharma Productions first historical multi-starrer which will depict a battle for the majestic Mughal throne. He will shoot historical epic "Throne" ("Takht"). It includes Ranveer Singh ("Padmaavat"), Kareena Kapoor Khan ("Veere Di Wedding"), Alia Bhatt ("Raazi"), Vicky Kaushal ("Sanju"), Bhumi Pednekar ("Toilet - Ek Prem Katha"), Janhvi Kapoor ("Dhadak") and Anil Kapoor ("Race 3"). TAKHT! Directed by the one and ONLY!

So before the film goes on floors, here's what we know about the film so far. However, the 46-year-old filmmaker is planning to shift gears with Takht. At a time when period dramas have found a great audience, KJo, too, seems keen to try his hand at this genre.

In a separate tweet, Karan Johar acknowledged the film's writers and wrote: "Writers are the heartbeat and the soul of the film".

Remember we had told you that Karan Johar is set to take the director's chair once again with a perid love story and that he had roped in his best friend Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh for the untitled project? His last directorial venture, "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil" starring Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan made over Rs 100 crore at Bollywood box-office.

The only catch is that the fans will have to wait for two more years to Karan's magnum opus on the big screen.

Scheduled for a 2020 release, Takht's screenplay is by Sumit Roy and the dialogues of the film are written by Hussain Haidry.
