Backed Shuette wins GOP nod for governor in MI

Abdul El-Sayed from MI, who was on the ticket for governor, fell 20 percentage points behind his Democratic competition, even with both Sanders and Ocasio-Cortez coming out to stump for him. She defeated two other Democratic contestants in Tuesday's Michigan Primary Election.

State Attorney General Bill Schuette has won the Republican nomination for MI governor, defeating three other candidates vying to succeed term-limited GOP Gov. Rick Snyder.

Whitmer, a former legislative leader, defeated chemical-testing businessman Shri Thanedar and ex-Detroit health director Abdul El-Sayed in Tuesday's primary. You will have a Big win in November and be a tremendous Governor for the Great State of MI. But in the race's final month - especially after Ocasio-Cortez's victory in NY - the race was seen as a battle between the "establishment"-backed Whitmer and the more left-wing El-Sayed".

Michigan Democratic congressional candidate Rashida Tlaib on Thursday said she is not fully sold on the predictions of a "blue wave" during the upcoming midterm elections. "Michigan is one of the DGA's top targets for pickup this cycle, and Gretchen is a terrific candidate. It's time to repeal the retirement tax and yes, to fix the damn roads".

Gretchen Whitmer hasn't given much of a hint on who her running mate might be, however, there are few names floating around. "What I mean by that is we need to be inspiring a whole new generation of people that just have not been engaged in our political system, in our government, and I think that's what's been has been really disconnected with Congress right now and the American people".
