Brad Pitt's lawyers aren't mincing words. they say Angelina Jolie is a master manipulator and a liar by essentially claiming he's a deadbeat dad, because they say he's forked over more than $9 MILLION over the last 2 years.

Jolie had said in a Tuesday court filing that Pitt had "paid no meaningful child support" since Jolie filed for divorce in September 2016.

Pitt's attorneys said that Jolie's claims were "a thinly-veiled effort to manipulate media coverage".

In court documents obtained by Entertainment Tonight, Pitt's attorney stated, "Respondent has previously loaned Petitioner $8.0 million to assist her in purchasing her current residence and has paid over $1.3 million in bills for the benefit of Petitioner and the minor children".

Papers filed by Jolie's lawyers on Tuesday said the Maleficent star wished to have their divorce settled by the end of the year.

Friends of Pitt have been rallying to his defense, denying he is not helping to provide for the six kids he shares with Jolie - Maddox, 16, Pax, 14, Zahara, 13, Shiloh, 12, and 10-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox.

The actress' lawyer Samantha Bley DeJean described the recent response by Pitt's legal team as "a blatant attempt to obfuscate the truth and distract from the fact that he has not fully met his legal obligations to support the children".

"Given the informal arrangements around the payment of the children's expenses have not been regularly sustained by [Pitt] for over a year and a half, [Jolie] intends to file [a request for a court order] for the establishment of a retroactive child support order". Pitt's response said that a status conference that is already scheduled would serve the same goal.

According to The Richest, Jolie's net worth is $160 million while Pitt's is $260 million.

Pitt was investigated for possible child abuse after losing his temper in front of some of the children, but was later cleared of the allegations.

Angelina Jolie, left, and Brad Pitt arrive at the 2015 AFI Fest opening night premiere of "By The Sea" in Los Angeles.

"Brad felt like he actually had a say and that the court was seeing his side of things", a source added.
