In a Daily Star article, director Antoine Fuqua is said to have a conversation with the Bond producer about potentially recasting Bond with a non-white actor. Back in 2014, Sony's then-studio chair Amy Pascal told a colleague that "Idris [Elba] should be the next Bond".

Fuqua probably isn't in any position for Broccoli to reveal any concrete information to him (especially if he blabs it all over the internet...), and it's likely that the conversation is still just a rumour, but it's also true that Elba probably would make a brilliant Bond. "Fuqua discussed who might be next in the running with Broccoli, who's certain the progressive move "will happen eventually", with Idris Elba a reported frontrunner for the role".

Last August, Craig had revealed he would return to the iconic role one last time, having previously played Bond four times: Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall, and Spectre. 'Do something different with it.

Other actors whose names have been suggested to take over the role of 007 include McMafia star James Norton, Tom Hardy, and Poldark's Aidan Turner.

Several actress have been tipped to play the Bond role in the past, with X Files star Gillian Anderson being shunted to the forefront of speculation after a fan tweeted a convincing poster of her as Bond in 2016.

The Independent say that producers are "leaning toward" the English actor for the role of James Bond when Daniel Craig vacates it - which will be after the next Danny Boyle-directed outing.

Bond 25 is scheduled to be released in North Amercian theaters on November 8, 2019, with a United Kingdom release scheduled for October 25, 2019.

'We will begin shooting Bond 25 at Pinewood Studios in December with our partners at MGM and thrilled that Universal will be our global distributor. No, not at the moment. I'm over it at the moment.
