Marco Silva's Everton looked to be heading into the 2018-19 season having only strengthened with Richarlison and Lucas Digne, but on Thursday they found agreements with Barcelona for Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes, while Brazil global Bernard signed on a free transfer following his Shakhtar Donetsk departure.

Colombian International Yerry Mina is close to finalising a permanent switch to English Premier League side Everton from Barcelona.

'I have watched the Premier League for a long time.

The Colombia defender signed for Everton yesterday afternoon, along with former Barca teammate Andre Gomes.

A loan fee of around £2million was agreed, with Everton also picking up the cost of the player's wages. When I found out about this opportunity and what the manager wanted out of me I was happy.

"For me, it was really good to speak to him because I know how good he is and I feel motivated to work with him and to play for Everton, a great club".

Barcelona can buy the centre-half back for around £30m if he does well at Goodison but, for now, he is an Everton player. Despite interest from Manchester United and Lyon in the 23-year-old, and a six-week pursuit by Everton, the defender was finally secured on a five-year deal for an initial €30.25m (£27.2m) plus €1.5m in add-ons.

The Catalan club have included a buy-back clause in the deal with the Toffees. "He is a good guy and we want to do our best for Everton".

"I spoke to Lucas and he told me all about the Club, which also made me keen to come here".

The new players could take a while to adapt to their new surroundings, but it is imperative that Everton start the season strongly and pick up important points in the opening weeks of the 2018-19 campaign.
