According to a report from Calciomercato, Manchester United are weighing up a last-gasp bid to sign Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic before Thursday's transfer deadline.

Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has insisted that he is fully focused on staying at the Serie A club amid continued speculation over his future.

The Red Devils may have added Fred to their options in the middle of the park this summer, but are yet to truly solve their Paul Pogba conundrum as he struggles to hit top form in Jose Mourinho's system. The Serbian midfielder has developed into one of the most exciting midfielders in the game, since moving to Lazio back in 2015 from Belgian side Genk.

The Serbian midfielder enjoyed a fine World Cup in Russian Federation for his nation and has caught the eye of several clubs, including Serie A rivals Inter and Milan, along with the Premier League duo of Manchester United and Chelsea.

The Serbia global, who was linked with a move to Old Trafford much earlier in the window, has recently been the subject of fresh approaches from Inter, AC Milan and Juventus as Lazio prepare to cash in.

"FFP says you can spend what you earn, at the moment we've spent more than we should have, which could have led us to be out of the Europa League". In order to do so, the Red Devils will have to smash their transfer record, with Lazio demanding €155 million for their prized asset.

The 23-year-old has emerged as one of the leading young stars in European football over the past 18 months and United fans will be watching this very closely indeed, especially with the rumours about the future of Paul Pogba continuing to fill the column inches.

Meanwhile in Italy, Juventus are believed to have an agreement in place with the Biancocelesti but any deal to sign Milinkovic-Savic hinges upon whether or not midfielder Miralem Pjanic leaves the Serie A champions this summer.
