It's not a myth. The victor, subject to verification, will receive McDonald's food for Life (for the victor only), up to two meals per week for 50 years, awarded as a $1,000 credit on winner's McDonald's App and $35,400 cash, plus $15,600 to offset taxes on the prize, awarded as a check for $51,000. The obvious answer is with a McGold Card in one hand and a free Happy Meal in the other.

The victor of the McGold card will also be awarded with a customized 24-carat golden phone case to mark their membership into the history and mystery of McGold Card lore, all powered by the McDonald's App in 2018. The victor will receive a gift card via the McDonald's app with $1,000 that can be used to get the food.

So how did the McGold Card start?

At a ceremony introducing The Gateway Arch in 1965, McDonald's gave out the first McGold Card to the mayor of St. Louis, MO that awarded a lifetime of free McDonald's.

McDonald's fans will need to place an order on the app from August 10 and before August 24 at 11.59pm. Each time they use Mobile Order & Pay to order, they will gain another entry.

McDonald's says the victor will receive a phone case which will be engraved with their name. It appears that all memory of that documentary has been wiped, because McDonald's lovers are going insane over a new competition that will award one victor free food for life.

This is the first time a McGold Card has been awarded in a contest. Only one card will be given away after August 24th.

Although only "the most luminary" individuals are capable of holding the card, it thankfully does not take much effort to join those ranks.
