Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne is facing a spell on the sidelines after injuring his right knee in training on Wednesday.

The 27-year-old, who enjoyed a superb World Cup as Belgium reached the semi-finals, is undergoing tests to assess the seriousness of the injury.

Clearly, he knows it's a serious injury and the official updates from City in the coming days will likely confirm the sad news.

The 27-year-old reached the World Cup quarter-finals with Belgium in Russian Federation this summer and did not return to training until 6 August, a day after City's victory over Chelsea in the Community Shield.

The Belgian is set to undergo a scan tomorrow, where it is expected to reveal ligament damage that is likely to keep him out for over two months.

Earlier, NAIJ.com had reported how Premier League champions Manchester City began their 2018/19 campaign with a 2-0 victory over Arsenal at the Emirates in a Super Sunday match.

De Bruyne left training today on crutches and the club will discuss sending the Belgian to Catalan doctor Ramon Cugat, who Guardiola has leaned on in the past.
