Sacramento police are investigating an incident last month during which Mike Ness, the lead singer of the band Social Distortion, allegedly punched a Trump-supporting fan at a concert. It wasn't until security guards pulled Ness off Hildebrand that the singer stopped, according to the accuser.

He added: 'I stood pretty much with my silent protest with my middle finger up for the next two songs'.

Footage captured of the incident shows the moment Hildebrand says Ness attacked him.

Then Ness puts his guitar down and wades into the crowd and gets into a tussle that's obscured from the camera's view.

"[He] [t] akes his guitar off, jumps off the stage and proceeds to punch me multiple times in the head", Hildebrand said.

"I was more anxious or concerned about someone in the crowd starting something", Hildebrand said, thinking that Ness probably couldn't even see him.

Hildebrand said he filed a report with Sacramento police officers who were at the concert.

Sacramento police said they were investigating the incident, the station reported.

"Someone that has the status that he does shouldn't get away with assaulting someone", Hildebrand said, and revealed that he'd also be willing to have a face-to-face chat with the man who reportedly beat him up. He says that he was left with two black eyes, a split lip and a concussion.

At the Southern California show, Ness began discussing ICE and called Donald Trump a "bigot" and a "racist" onstage, which ignited anger within a few fans in the crowd.

That act inflamed the situation further and before long Ness and Hildebrand allegedly came to blows.

For the Republican and farmer from nearby town of Galt, Hildebrand, who grew up listening to the Social Distortion, never thought he'd find himself in a physical confrontation with one of his musical heroes.

"If he wants to have a talk someday, man to man, I would love that but he would have to not be a child about it".

The band did not return requests for comment from the local station.
