On Thursday night, bad news struck one University of Georgia football great.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Wynn tore his achilles and will be out for the 2018 season.

The Patriots drafted Wynn with the No. 23 overall pick, which shows you how much of a need offensive line help was for them this offseason.

Wynn started at right tackle against the Eagles and had also been working as the team's backup left tackle behind Trent Brown.

In addition to Wynn, UGA great Malcolm Mitchell - who missed last season with an injury - was released by the Pats recently. Fellow Georgia product and first-round pick running back Sony Michel has been sidelined with a knee issue that's reportedly going to cost him about a month of work, though he may be ready for the regular season.

Well-wishes to Wynn for a speedy recovery.
