New MacBook Air could land soon with one great new iPhone similarity

The affordable MacBook is estimated to have a shipment volume of around eight million units in 2018 and is expected to undermine demand for first-tier competitors' similar devices. The model is expected to be priced at US$1,200, according to industry sources.

"The second quarter was the transition period when Apple was preparing for the releases of the upcoming new MacBook devices for the year". As you know, old entry-level MacBooks and MacBook Air models costed $999 and $799, respectively.

Apple hasn't changed the design of its iPads much over the past few years, making it fairly easy to confuse the company's latest 9.7-inch model with 2014's iPad Air 2.

In fact, there isn't a whole lot that this rumor tells us.

New MacBook Airs could launch as soon as the end of Q3 2018, according to a new report out of Taiwan that signals the wait for an affordable new MacBook is almost over. Apple originally intended for this MacBook to use 10nm CPUs, but when Intel delayed the roll out of those processors to 2019, Apple chose to go for Kaby Lake architecture instead.

If the company plans to drop a MacBook Air, like millions have been hoping for over the past two or three years, then that would put TrendForce's prediction at September or October, coinciding with both the iPhone event and the end of Q3/start of Q4.

With this new information, we frankly can't wait to see where these fit in Apple's laptop lineup, especially this slightly cheaper 12-inch refresh. The current 13-inch MacBook air starts at $1,199.00 United States dollars, while the 11-inch base model is just a hair under one thousand.

The publication claims Apple will finally announce the launch date for its wireless charging solution, AirPower, at the iPhone media event.

What is normally an iPhone-focused event is looking to become an Apple product smorgasbord.
