A toothless Manchester United have slipped to a 3-2 loss at the hands of Brighton & Hove Albion in their first away outing of the new season. Should he fail to win back the fans and some silverware, sacking him would be the only sensible thing to do.

Eric Bailly was the culprit, bringing down Pascal Gross in the area, but there were a string of errors in the build up to the foul.

With Alexis Sanchez missing the game through injury, Mourinho introduced Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard at half-time, but there was little improvement to their attacking display and Pogba's finish from the spot came too late to rescue a result.

Jose Mourinho has apparently fallen with the likes of Paul Pogba, Luke Shaw and Anthony Martial so far and it won't be a surprise if he loses the dressing room anytime soon.

For the first time in almost two years, Mourinho's men conceded more than twice with all three Brighton goals arriving before half-time through Glenn Murray, Shane Duffy and a Pascal Gross penalty.

Two minutes later they doubled their lead when, after one ball had fizzed across the box, United failed to deal with the second and Duffy turned and fired into the corner.

Goal! Glenn Murray opens the scoring for the Seagulls with a lovely flick! . Regardless of the drama surrounding Manchester United, they will be the favorites against Brighton.

However, Lindelof found his first-team opportunities limited last term, particularly in the Premier League with Phil Jones and Chris Smalling preferred.

As for Manchester United, they defeated Leicester 2-1 in the opening game of the 2018/2019 season.

It's clear why Mourinho was desperate for a new centre-back in the transfer window. However, a pre-season calf injury ruled the 33-year-old out for United's season opener against Liecester and Pogba was handed the captain's armband for that game.

Pereira also made his full Premier League debut against Leicester and is set to retain his place against Brighton on Sunday. The Brazilian midfielder was at his marauding best at times and will be looking to continue his solid start for the Red Devils.
