"We are excited to reveal today that Sony Interactive Entertainment has officially sold-through more than three million PlayStation VR systems worldwide, along with 21.9 million PS VR games and experiences". "Deracine" was one of the titles that Sony touted at E3 in June.

In one sense, this is an unbelievable number, and it's pretty clear that PS VR is a sales leader in this market.

Sony has sold over 82 million PlayStation 4 consoles. The Microsoft device (the HoloLens), unlike the others, is classified as a "mixed reality" headset. The main question was how well developers would support the system, but looking at Sony's most recent figures, it seems the average PSVR owner is buying around seven games and experiences to accompany the system.

Statista's estimated VR vendor share forecast for 2018.

To mark the PS VR milestone, Sony announced PS VR game discounts and the fall release dates of two new PS VR games, saying the boxing title "Creed: Rise to Glory" from Survios will launch for PS VR Sept. 25 and Archiact's sci-fi first-person VR shooter "Evasion" will follow October 9 for PS VR. This is a game based on the Rocky movie franchise as players assume the role of Adonis Creed.

Plus, if you missed out on some of the top 10 most-played PSVR games (including The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR on top of the list) you can hit up the Totally Digital Sale, going on right now via the PlayStation Store.

That is set to launch on September 25, with sci-fi shooting game Evasion due out on October 9.

Sony is celebrating the PSVR's latest milestone in several ways.

Statista forecasts that Sony will account for 43 percent of the VR devices shipped in 2018, with Oculus following at 19.4 percent and HTC at 12.9 percent.
