Rudy Giuliani says 'truth isn't truth'

"If someone said, I have information about your opponent, you would take that meeting".

Elsewhere in the interview, Giuliani executed the same 180° turn the President did weeks ago, acknowledging that the campaign-era meeting in Trump Tower between senior campaign officials and Russians "was originally for the objective of getting information about [Hillary] Clinton". Giuliani also said on NBC that former Trump lawyer John Dowd has said McGahn was a strong witness for the president. Now Trump's attorney on the Russian Federation investigation, he was trying to justify why the White House has been dragging its feet over granting an interview between the president and special counsel Robert Mueller.

Mr Giuliani said: "I'm not going to be rushed into having him testify so can he can be trapped into perjury".

"We are confident that he said nothing wrong about the president", Giuliani said on Fox, suggesting that McGahn would have resigned if he had. "And when you tell me that he should testify because he's going to tell the truth and he shouldn't worry, well that's so silly because it's somebody's version of the truth".

The word "bizarre" has come to increasingly accompany reports of Rudy Giuliani's television appearances ever since he signed on as lead lawyer for Donald Trump, but the former NYC mayor's Sunday morning appearance on "Meet the Press" took the cake in terms of sheer nuttiness.

Todd insisted: "Truth is truth", Giuliani responded: "Truth isn't truth".

TODD: Truth is truth.

"If you're just a genius, tell me what the truth is!"

"Truth is truth", Todd pointed out. "I did not know about it!" Mr Giuliani denied this was the case, and said two rival versions of events were in contention. "All they had was her name". "This is going to be a bad meme".

"Well, they knew it when they met with her, not when they set up the meeting", Giuliani responded. "Now, don't tell me that we're delaying this if they are spending a week and a half getting back to us". All they knew is that a woman with a Russian name wanted to meet with them.

Giuliani's comment was consistent with a tweet by Trump on August 5 that the gathering had been arranged to "get information on an opponent", contradicting the previous reason given for the meeting.

Mr Giuliani then made his main point - that accusations of obstruction of justice against the president hinge on a conversation he had with then Federal Bureau of Investigation director James Comey in February 2017, and that Mr Trump's account of that conversation differs radically from Mr Comey's.

Mr Giuliani was arguing that Mr Trump should not testify to the Russian Federation probe, as he might be "trapped into perjury".

I believe you are aware of the meeting - and so wondered if 3pm or later on Thursday works for you?
