Superstar Winx has extended her winning streak to 26, eclipsing the legendary Black Caviar's record of 25 consecutive victories.

The world's best racehorse overtook unbeaten Black Caviar in extending her sequence to 26 wins in the race named in her honour - the Winx Stakes.

"I love being on her and I'm privileged to be on her and I get all the accolades but I'm sure she could do it without me".

It's also the 30th win of Winx's career, becoming just the 14th horse in history to achieve that remarkable feat.

Trainer Chris Waller teared up as he reflected on the awesome victory. It's about that awesome animal behind us.

Black Caviar retired after hitting the quarter-century but punters will be hoping first for a Winx win, and then for many more.

"I heard it and I'm sure she heard it because when the crowd erupted at the 250m mark she just dropped and went", Jockey Hugh Bowman told Seven Network following the race.

"She was struggling at the pace of this distance", he said.

The shared tension felt in Winx's inner circle only builds ahead of each of her starts.

Winx, a daughter of former leading Darley sire Street Cry, was bred by the Camilleri family of Fairway Thoroughbreds after they purchased her dam, the stakes winning Al Akbar mare Vegas Showgirl from the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale through leading bloodstock agent Colm Santry.

Sunlight showed strong fitness improvement from her recent stakes runner-up finish to Nature Strip in Adelaide with a strong win in today's Group Three Quezette Stakes at Caulfield.
