This update comes as CNET reported being contacted by OnePlus, who have confirmed that the Chinese smartphone maker is working on a fingerprint scanner under the display, that will be activated by the "Screen Unlock' feature".

OnePlus" tweet, which gives a teaser video of this feature, was posted with the statement "Incoming: "Top Secret Message". In an email, OnePlus even revealed that this feature will be called Screen Unlock.

The publication showed an alleged image of the OnePlus 6T's lock screen that shows a fingerprint icon, presumably highlighting where the user needs to place their finger in order to take advantage of the feature.

The OnePlus 6T is expected to be unveiled on October 17, but the flagship killer may not be available for purchase until later that month.

The previous version, launched alongside the OnePlus 6, is priced at Rs 3,990.

OnePlus also told CNET that it was planning to introduce the feature with the OnePlus 5T a year ago but decided otherwise as "the technology wasn't mature enough to meet [OnePlus'] standards for delivering a fast and smooth user experience".

CNET further explains that the OnePlus 6T will be 0.45mm thicker than the predecessor, because of the extra component that goes under the display.

Well, that's changing now, it appears, as we've spotted an image on China's Weibo showing a real life capture of what the uploader of the image says is the OnePlus 6T. As OnePlus' fingerprint sensor on the back and face unlock on the front have been effortless to use.

We expect to see the phone itself in November.
