Apple unveils its biggest iPhone lineup ever

Apparently, the large, iPhone Xs Max model will also be the heaviest yet at 7.34 ounce (208 grams).

Apple's website has seemingly leaked the names, storage sizes and colours of all the new iPhones set to be unveiled this evening at a special event.

As expected, the designs of the two new iPhone models closely mirror the iPhone X, with edge-to-edge displays and notches to accommodate the front-facing sensors and cameras.

We'll find out more later tonight but there's certainly going to be plenty of news from the keynote.

We are seeing a lot of last-minute leaks today as Apple is scheduled to announce the new iPhones later today. The previous Apple Watch was available in 38 mm and 42 mm sizes.

So, that appears to be a nail in the coffin for the rumoured "iPhone XS Plus" and "iPhone XC" names, then, which were widely rumoured to be the monikers of the gadgets. As far as we know, we are about to see three new models, spread across three price tiers.

The well-respected analyst also expects the new Apple Watch 4 to sport a ceramic backside instead of composite glass and support advanced heart rate monitoring using electrocardiography (ECG).

The report showed that more than four million Apple smartphone owners were considering an iPhone upgrade in the next 12 months.

Rival Samsung Electronics Co Ltd has a few models that cost almost as much as Apple models, but the bulk of its line-up, like that of other phone makers, consists of cheaper models.

That means they're also all likely to boast Apple's hi-tech Face ID feature, which uses facial recognition to identify you - allowing your phone to be unlocked.

A year removed from last year's 10th anniversary celebration-the first to be held at Steve Jobs Theater on the company's new campus-look for Apple to get back to basics.
