This has given rise to a new speculation: Google is fooling the world by leaking wrong Pixel 3 XL so far. In 2017, it unveiled Google Pixelbook, Google Home Mini and Max smart speakers, Pixel Buds, and Google Clips accessories.

We all know that "controlled" leaks are a thing - whereby a company will actively leak upcoming products or details about the products in a controlled manner in order to build hype around it prior to the release.

One Slashleaks forum member has uploaded some screenshots of the Device Setup page of the Google Pixel 2 XL. The new handset will get 2915 MH of a battery. This time the company has changed the date of the event, together with the event being held in New York City. "The invitation reads out "I 3 NY" and "#madebygoogle" hinting launch of much-awaited flagship smartphones, Pixel 3 and Pixel 3XL.

Its smaller sibling Pixel 3 will have a 5.4-inch without a notch and may be the most attractive model of two because of its design and the retail price tag in the $650-$750 range depending on the storage capacity. There is a possibility that Google might, at last, do some justice to its flagship devices with a first-class design as an alternative to just following the trend. The Lyft driver who found the Pixel 3 XL shared images of it with Android Police, who confirmed that it appeared to be a pre-production unit. The Pixel 3, meanwhile, hasn't been leaked this extensively but its photos too are easily available on the web.

There is a theory brewing that Google is pulling off a complex hoax with its Pixel 3 XL phone, which has been criticized six ways from Sunday for having a giant notch.

Sounds insane, right? Well, it might not be so insane after all, with one very intriguing development suggesting Google could have been running a Skunk Works, black-ops style operation to hide its real Google Pixel 3 by leaking a number of fake handsets, the handsets that are leading to those much-publicised first reviews. Interestingly, the phone is likely to stick with a single camera shooter on the back, similar to the Pixel 2 XL.
