Oscar victor Halle Berry is making her directorial debut with Bruised, a mixed martial arts action drama in which she's also starring.

Berry will direct from a script by Michelle Rosenfarb, portraying a disgraced MMA fighter who has to face one of the rising stars of the MMA world and deal with the return of her 6-year-old son to the mother he deserves.

An Oscar victor already for her acting career, Berry will go behind the camera for the first time for the new movie written by Michelle Rosenfarb that's set in the world of MMA.

The most intriguing news out of all this is that Berry will reportedly work with the same fight coordination team that designs the throwdowns for the John Wick films. The film is being developed with the EIS company. Erica Lee will be executive producing.

Berry (Monster Ball, Kingmans: The Golden Circle) is now busy with other film projects such as Sony's Jagged Edge remake and John Wick 3: Parabellum starring alongside Keanu Reeves, Ian McShane and Common which will premiere next year on May 17.

There's no word on when production might start on "Bruised" with Berry already committed to several projects.

Berry made history as the first (and now the only) black woman to win the Best Actress Oscar for her performance in 2001's Monster's Ball.

Amusing enough, Berry is repped by WME - the parent company who owns a majority share in the UFC.
