Tottenham are ready to finally splash some cash as Mauricio Pochettino lines-up an £85m double January swoop for Ben Chillwell and Frenkie de Jong, according to reports via TeamTalk. His impressive performances have also seen him handed his debut for the Netherlands, and now de Jong is unquestionably one of the Eredivisie's hottest talents.

"Barcelona may return for Frenkie in January, but players will not leave in that period".

Overmars was asked about Barcelona's interest in de Jong by Spanish outlet Sport, who quote Overmars as saying: "Barca did not value de Jong, the offer did not correspond to Frenkie's qualities". After returning to the Champions League group stage this season, the former European champions are determined to retain their squad as they try to reach the knockout phase.

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri wants to raid AC Milan by signing Italian defenders Alessio Romagnoli and Mattia Caldara in January.

De Jong has been linked with Tottenham and Barcelona, but Wijnaldum has urged him not to rush things.

If De Jong leaves Ajax to join Barcelona in the winter transfer window, it will be really bad for the Dutch side as they will not get much time to rope in a replacement.

De Jong made his worldwide debut for Netherlands on Thursday in a friendly against Peru and then went on to feature in the UEFA Nations League encounter against France at the weekend. "Maybe someday I'll join Barcelona, but not this season", he said.

Having come through the youth ranks at Willem II, De Jong moved to Ajax in the summer of 2015 and established himself as a first-team regular in the 2017-18 campaign.
