Cynthia Nixon Pins Anti-Semitic Mailer Blame on Gov. Cuomo

68 percent of respondents said they had a favorable view of the governor while 41 percent said they liked Nixon.

The Siena College poll was conducted before this weekend, which turned out to be a tough one for Cuomo. It was addressed to Jewish voters, and it called Nixon anti-Semitic and said she "won't stand strong for our Jewish communities".

Nixon has not publicly endorsed the BDS campaign. "As the largest infrastructure project in the nation, I think this project is of national significance".

"We need more people who are public school kids, who are public school parents who ride the subway every day and who know what it's like to be preyed upon by landlords, as my mother and I were when I was a kid", Nixon said.

In the ad, Nixon is cast alongside her campaign's top progressive allies, including lieutenant governor candidate Jumaane Williams, Zephyr Teachout, who is running for state attorney general after challenging Cuomo in 2014, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, with whom Nixon exchanged endorsements in the days before the 28-year-old fellow first-time candidate defeated Rep. Joe Crowley in June.

"I didn't know about the mailer", Cuomo sad. Nixon is campaigning hard to Cuomo's left, energized by a string of other insurgent wins in Democratic primaries elsewhere in the United States. Meanwhile, emails obtained by the Journal News suggest that Cuomo was directly involved in planning the opening of the first span of the bridge.

She added, "They are missing the new electorate - people of all ages and races who have traditionally sat out the primaries, but are now energized to fight for radical change".

Though Berman has acknowledged that the mailer was "wrong and inappropriate", the state committee has thus far refused to answer repeated questions about how the deceitful ad got made, if anyone has been disciplined over the mistake, and whether it was targeted to certain demographics.

The mailer says Nixon opposes funding for Jewish schools, supports "racist, xenophobic" calls to boycott Israel over its treatment of Palestinians and that she has been "silent on the rise of anti-Semitism".
