Nintendo Switch Online launches September 18 with one-week free trial

In today's Direct, Nintendo announced three brand new games coming to the Switch: Luigi's Mansion 3, Animal Crossing (2019), and Yoshi's Crafted World. The company then finally confirmed a specific launch date on Wednesday, stating in a tweet that more information about the online service will be revealed during a rescheduled Nintendo Direct stream on September 13th. One is a pair of Nintendo Entertainment System Controllers that will work with the Nintendo Switch's enhanced NES games.

What was the standout moment for you? Notice how the words "Nintendo Switch Online" are nowhere to be found.

If you want a classic NES gameplay experience on the Switch, be prepared to shell out $60. Some of the games that will be available at launch include Dr. Mario, Super Mario Bros.

This will be especially important if you have multiple Switch profiles in your house, such as those for children and other family members. A seven-day free trial will be available for all Nintendo Account holders.

Due to an unfortunate and devastating quake in Japan this past week, Nintendo made a decision to reschedule its Nintendo Direct presentation which was planned to stream on Sep 6.
