Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino: What I blame for our defeat to Liverpool

Fantastic we won all of them, fantastic we improved during the season.

Michel Form failed to clear James Milner's corner and the ball was headed back towards goal by Wijnaldum.

The logic of trying to outnumber Liverpool in central areas and give Spurs' defenders extra passing options against the visitors' press was sound. We could have scored more, we controlled the game.

"When we started the second half, there were some massive chances for us to score". If it was given it's 2-2 if we score the goal.

Liverpool take on Tottenham Hotspur later today and reliable journalist Dave Maddock believes that Fabinho will return to the bench for Jürgen Klopp's side.

Critics will point to the fact that all three of this big finals were lost but if anyone needs proof of the improvement at the club under the former Dortmund manager, then all they need to do is look back at the team sheet from that first match in charge back in 2015.

While Pochettino was frustrated with his side's showing today, he insists there's no need to panic ahead of their to Brighton next weekend. They won the game with their work-rate.

But while Klopp has been able to bolster his team by the signings of Alisson, Van Dijk and Keita, Pochettino's only possible change from a year ago was winger Lucas Moura, who started this game ahead of Son.

"Is this a tough time?".

Goalscorer Lamela added: "I am pleased for my goal but next time I hope that it helps the team to win".

"Unfortunately we didn't have enough time to score again because the game was finishing". Maybe it is just a case of early season mis-steps and nothing more than that, but these two teams have gone in opposite directions since last October and Liverpool are undoubtedly the one on an upwards trajectory.

Speaking to reporters, Klopp said on his new £43million man: "I don't like to compare players but we had similar question about Robbo and Oxlade and I'm not sure if Sadio (Mane) played from the beginning, but I think he had a full pre-season".
