"For the past six years, the Browns have fully supported and invested in Josh, both personally and professionally and wanted the best for him, but unfortunately we've reached a point where we feel it's best to part ways and move forward".

Cleveland on Saturday ruled out veteran linebacker Christian Kirksey (shoulder/ankle), wide receiver Josh Gordon (hamstring) and tight end Seth DeValve (hamstring) for Sunday's game against the Saints.

"This afternoon we informed Josh Gordon and his representatives that we are going to release him on Monday", general manager John Dorsey released in a statement.

Tune in to see if the Browns can finally get that elusive first win since the 2016 season.

The fact that Cabot is reporting Gordon was "not himself" is a really bad sign for a guy who has struggled with substance abuse issues for years.

The team provided no details behind their decision to part ways with Gordon. Gordon will miss the Browns' trip to New Orleans with a hamstring injury.

This is the first game Kirksey will miss since he was drafted in 2014. He did not play in any of the four preseason games. The 27-year-old was slowed by a hamstring issue after he reported late to training camp while missing three weeks to receive counselling and treatment for alcohol and drug dependence.

It's been a long time since the Browns owned a better record than an opponent, but that's the case here as they enter off a 21-21 tie with the Pittsburgh Steelers - giving them an odd-looking mark of 0-0-1. Jackson blamed Gordon's appearance on the first play to a "mistake" and "miscommunication".
