LA Galaxy star Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored the 500th goal of his career for club and country on Saturday night in fittingly outlandish fashion.

But his 500th career goal in the United States left fans incredulous as to how he pulled it off, completing a roundhouse kick to convert an assist from Jonathan dos Santsos to pull one back for the California team after they went 3-0 down.

The six-foot-five (1.95 metre) Ibrahimovic joined the 500 club by releasing a perfectly-timed roundhouse kick in the 45th minute that fooled Toronto goalkeeper Alex Bono.

Toronto had jumped out to a 3-0 first-half lead before Ibrahimovic's goal fueled a furious Galaxy rally that saw a tie game by the 58th minute.

A stunning spinning full volley from Ibrahimovic, who joined Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi as the only active players to reach that milestone just before halftime gave the Galaxy some life.

But Jonathan Osorio put put the home side back in front and Jay Chapman rounded out a 5-3 win for the defending MLS champion.

After starting his career at Malmo in Sweden, Ibrahimovic has gone on to score goals for Dutch giants Ajax, Juventus, Inter, Barcelona, AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain and United.
