Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has left Kieran Trippier and Toby Alderweireld out of his squad for their Champions League opener against Inter Milan on Tuesday. And as well as regular starters in Trippier and Alderweireld missing out, Dele Alli and Hugo Lloris remain sidelined through injury.

However, the Tottenham boss refused to elaborate on what he meant by the "technical" nature of the decision made to leave two key players back home in London.

Having initially blamed their absence on a "technical decision", Pochettino eventually conceded he needs to rotate his players as Tottenham try to now combine the Premier League and Champions League.

"You can not bring 25 players. That is the reason".

Alderweireld was heavily linked with a transfer to Manchester United over the summer but failed to secure a move away from Spurs before the Premier League's August 9th transfer deadline. You can look it up, find it in the dictionary. Lose your hunger, lose your own motivation, lose being clever and learning. experience, if you're not clever, experience on it's own is not going to help you in the future.

Pochettino is right to gamble without Tottenham duo against Inter Milan

"The plan is to leave them there and use different players tomorrow". There's nothing in behind it. We came from hard circumstances with the World Cup. "We believe the best decision is to play with different players".

Nine of the Spurs squad played for teams that reached this year's World Cup semi-finals - England, Belgium and eventual winners France.

"I'm not concerned", he added. It's a collective problem, not only one player.

Pochettino also described striker Harry Kane as an "easy target" for criticism after he appeared to struggle against Liverpool.

Mauricio Pochettino has indicated that he was interested in bringing in Keita Balde to Tottenham Hotspur before he joined Monaco previous year. "It's easy to blame Harry".
