On the front is the 6.26-inch notch display with Full HD+ resolution (2280×1080 pixels) resolution and 19:9 aspect ratio. The Mi 8 Youth is the most affordable smartphone in the Mi 8 series.

Xiaomi's Mi 8 family is expanding as today, Xiaomi added the Mi 8 Pro and the Mi 8 Lite (also rumored as Mi 8X).

The Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite will go for CNY 1,400 (€175) for the 4GB/64GB model, CNY 1,700 (€210) for the 6GB/64GB and CNY 2,000 (€250) for the 6GB/128GB model.

The smartphone has horizontally aligned dual rear cameras with a combination of 12-megapixel primary sensor with LED flash, 1.4μm pixel size, f/1.9 aperture and 5-megapixel secondary sensor. It has a circular fingerprint scanner on the back for security.

The Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro is actually the Mi 8 Explorer Edition, but with some differences. The Mi 8 Youth will be available in 4GB and 6GB RAM variants and 64GB and 128bGB of internal storage. On the front, it gets a 20-megapixel shooter with IR face unlock.

The device is backed by a 3,350mAh non-removable battery and supports fast charging. It runs on Android 8.1 Oreo-based MIUI 9.6 out of the box and will be updated to MIUI 10 very soon.

- Unlike the Mi 8, the Mi 8 Lite has a glass back that can reflect light differently depending on how you look at it. We should know more about the specs, pricing and availability tomorrow after the phone is officially unannounced. While the Mi 8 and Mi 8 Explorer Edition comes in different colour options, the Mi 8 In-Display Fingerprint edition comes in a single Gold colour option, but with different gradients on the rear side. Alongside the Screen Fingerprint Edition, another variant of the Mi 8 was launched called the Mi 8 Youth Edition-a stripped down version of the Mi 8 with a Snapdragon 660 SoC and flashy two-colour gradient back.

- The Mi 8 Lite comes sans a headphone jack which means the same USB Type-C port has to be used for charging, data syncing and music playback (using USB Type-C headphones). The Xiaomi Mi Lite is exclusive to China for now.
