It had previously been thought that Fortnite season could be starting as early as next Tuesday.

"Season 6 is now dropping from the Battle Bus on September 27", the developers say in their short statement.

Fortnite's 5th season is now in the midst of its 10th week, which means that the end is near.

To celebrate the news, they are also giving all players "an additional 400% Match XP all weekend, from now until September 24 at 8 AM ET (1200 GMT)", which should help you to unlock those final few Season 5 Battle Pass rewards!

Aside from a new location, players also get introduced to an updated Battle Pass.

As you may have heard, Fortnite is doing pretty well for itself, but it's been a while since Epic Games released any hard numbers.

As the Cube has melted into Loot Lake and its runes have started making unusual noises (see more on that below), Epic has finally announced when we will see Season 6 kick off.

Beginning in October, Epic is opening the tournament up to "inclusive competition", where everybody can play and compete, it said in a blog post.

But Fortnite fans are convinced that this isn't the end for the Fortnite cube and Epic Games may have one more surprise in store.

The runes the Cube printed onto the ground in the map have started to hum, suggesting that something else might be coming.

They tweeted: "Runes appear to be making a new sound?"

Could these sounds by hinting towards another big event surrounding the Fortnite cube?

At the moment, no one exactly knows what the season 6 theme will be.
