Disney has made a decision to do the right thing by reanimating its 1st African American princess, Princess Tiana in its upcoming "Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-it Ralph 2".

Tiana as she appears in the traditionally animated The Princess and the Frog.

On top her having lighter skin tone, Princess Tiana is also given a smaller nose and lips, which look very different from how she originally appears in "The Princess and the Frog" movie. The organization released a statement commending Disney for deciding to take the time to change Tiana's features following the backlash.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Disney chose to reanimate the scenes where Tiana appears, which can be found in the final trailer for Ralph Breaks the Internet.

Disney animators reportedly spoke with Anika Noni Rose, who voices the princess, and invited Brandi Collins-Dexter, a senior campaign director with Color of Change, an advocacy organisation that focuses on issues of racial representation and political inequality, to their offices in Burbank, California last week to review the changes with the animators.

But after Disney chose to redo Princess Tiana's looks, the organisation praised the studio's decision, "The whitewashed image of Tiana you created for your new film, Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2, is unacceptable".

Disney has reanimated some scenes from its "Wreck it Ralph" sequel after facing backlash for lightening the skin tone of Princess Tiana in the film.

Color of Change hailed Disney's agreement to re-render Tiana as a "victory" for the black community.
