PlayStation Classic Will Not See Post-Launch Games, Has No Online Functionality

KitGuru Says: The Nintendo 64 was the first console I actually owned, so I would be excited to revisit some of the classics.

Possibly in an attempt to repeat the successes of the NES Classic Mini and the SNES Classic Mini, Sony recently unveiled the PlayStation Classic, a mini retro console that's set to arrive just in time for the holiday season. And, sorry trophy hunters, the games included have not been altered to include trophy support.

The concept has been so successful, that Sony have straight-up copied it and announced a PlayStation Classic, coming in time for Christmas. Players will be able to jump right back in and resume playing from where they left off.

As racing games now feature cars that are almost indistinguishable from real life, the Gran Turismo series is bound for an appearance on the PlayStation Classic as one of the defining franchises in the genre.

As for the games that'll be on the PlayStation Classic, only five of them have been confirmed so far with 15 more to go still remaining unnamed. "However, it is important to note that the title list is tailored to each region".

While the rest of the games haven't been named, plans for remakes and remasters left people to speculate whether some games would be omitted from the PlayStation Classic to make way for redone versions of the titles. Coming from one of Sony's own studios, it wouldn't be a huge surprise for us to see The Legend of Dragoon make an appearance alongside numerous big-name RPGs that will (hopefully) appear on the Classic.
