A Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus driver lost his job after a video of him allowing a Gray langur (Hanuman langur) to take charge of the wheels has gone viral.

The clip lasting about a minute and 13 seconds showed the bus driver and the monkey controlling the public transport vehicle in unison, with the human even grinning as he was being filmed.

About 30 passengers were on-board the bus when the incident occurred.

The incident took place Monday, October 1 but authorities only learnt of it after the video was shared on social media, Latha added.

While one section of the people who watched it saw the humour in the situation, another section rightly pointed out that the Langur was at the helm of a bus carrying passengers and that the situation could have easily turned bad.

According to reports, the monkey eventually reached his destination and left the driver to carry on with his day.

The bus was on its regular trip around Davangere, around 170 miles (270 kilometers) from regional capital Bangalore, when the incident took place. "He should have been warned not to repeat this", tweeted Parag Heda. The KSRTC has said that if allegations of negligence are proved then the driver will be taken off from the field duty and will be allocated a desk job. It stayed on spot for a few minutes before it alighted from the bus, officials said.

The animal belonged to a teacher who travels regularly in the bus accompanied by it.
