Some rumored details about the new Chromecast leaked months ago, like pretty much all the other newly announced products. In its blog post, Google states this Chromecast has a 15% improvement in hardware speed, plus they say, "Our newest Chromecast supports smooth streaming in 1080p at 60 frames per second". As best we can tell there are no other new features for the 3rd gen Chromecast 2018 model. As a result, the only tangible streaming advantage that the new Chromecast has over its predecessor is support for 1080p60 video.
