However, if the latest leaks turn out to be accurate, the Huawei Mate 20 will beat the Xiaomi Mi 8 (almost) without breaking a sweat. The Mate 20 Pro sports a traditional-looking notch design to house a 3D camera for face unlock, just like on the Apple iPhone XS and OPPO Find X.

Anyone interested in the Mate 20 Pro or a gaming phone built by Huawei? We already know the Mate 20 series will debut the new 7nm Kirin 980 processor, which Huawei says is vastly superior to the flagship Kirin 970 and Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chips. The Huawei Mate 20 does not feature facial recognition and the front-camera is a regular individually installed unit. Under the hood, the device is powered by the new Huawei Kirin 980 Octa-core SoC clocked. Also, the base model of the device will offer 64GB onboard storage and the higher-end variants will feature 128GB, 256GB and 512GB onboard storage. All this should be run by a whopping 4,000mAh battery. Beneath this, as confirmed by the logo on the screen, will be a new in-display fingerprint reader which will replace the usual rear-facing solution. This is expected to be a triple lens snapper with LED flash. Alongside the Mate 20 smartphones, the company is also rumored to introduce Huawei Watch GT and Huawei Freebuds 2 Pro on the same stage.

This is a surprise entry that will sit alongside two other high-end smartphones, the upcoming Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro, both expected to launch during a press event next week. According to the reports, the standard variant of the Huawei Mate 20 will not be available in all the major smartphone markets.
