PlayStation Online ID name change feature coming soon

You will not be able to adjust this after completing the online ID change.

As per the EU PlayStation Blog, a "full preview program" is kicking off soon for the PS4 that will allow a PSN ID change. Initially, it is only going to be available to Sony's "Playstation Preview Program", but the feature is planned to be rolled out for everyone in the new year. Changes after that will cost $10 USD/CAD / €9.99 / £7.99.

If you've been waiting for the opportunity to change your Playstation Network ID, you can rejoice.

You'll have the option to show your previous ID alongside your current one in case your friends need to find you, although you'll want to be careful. For PlayStation Plus members, it will cost $5 USD/CAD / €4.99 / £3.99 after the first change.

Not all games will actually support the feature, but PlayStation says "a large majority of the most-played PS4 games" will, as well as any game "originally published after April 1, 2018". PlayStation is making it clear not all PS4, PS3, and PS Vita games are guaranteed to support the feature, so users might see issues or errors in certain games. If that happens, you can revert back to your original ID for free at any time (this can only be done once during the preview program). At that time, a full list of compatible games (those published before April 1, 2018) will be released. The preview program is scheduled to end in November, with the feature officially rolling out in early 2019.
