Rishabh Pant on Thursday earned a maiden call-up to the Indian ODI team, replacing Dinesh Karthik for the first two games against the West Indies. Virat Kohli, who was rested for the Asia Cup, will resume his limited overs captaincy in the ODI series. Notably, he had played all the matches in the Asia Cup.

India will have to wait for the return of Hardik Pandya, who suffered a lower back injury during the Asia Cup in the UAE and had to be stretchered out.

India is now playing the home test series against West Indies and are leading 1-0 in the two-match Test series. He had played the IPL with some niggles and was later dropped for the one-off Test against Afghanistan after failing a fitness test at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. Rohit Sharma, who captained India to an Asia Cup triumph, is the vice captain for the ODI series. Raina could have been the flawless No.6 batsman who can take up Jadhav's position for the West Indies series. In their place are Mohammed Shami, Khaleel Ahmed and Shardul Thakur form India's bowling department. "Now we are looking at third and fourth seamers".

Ravindra Jadeja too keeps his place. The spin duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal has been named in the Indian team.

Earlier in the day, India announced a 12-member squad for the Hyderabad Test starting tomorrow, it was a surprise that Mayank Agarwal again does not get picked. Prasad said the latter, who has impressed after his Test debut, will play as a batsman. Right now we're giving an opportunity to Rishabh Pant. While there have plenty of exclusions and inclusions, we take a look at the players who failed to make it to the squad. Karthik could muster only 146 runs in five innings in Dubai.
