After drafting running back Saquon Barkley, revamping their offensive line, and getting Odell Beckham back healthy and happy, expectations were high for the Giants entering this season.

Smith and then head coach Ben McAdoo were part of one of the more ignominious moment in Giants history last season when McAdoo clumsily and abruptly benched Eli Manning, in favor of Smith, before a Week 13 game against the Raiders.

During training camp, Beckham signed a five-year contract extension worth $95 million, with $65 million guaranteed, ending preseason drama between the two sides. Meanwhile, OBJ caught just two passes for 12 receiving yards in the initial two quarters.

Throughout the game, Manning routinely threw underneath the Eagles coverage, which seemed aimed at taking away the threat of a deep pass to Beckham. But It's just a matter of when we're going to go on a run. Manning is a free agent in 2020, but the 37-year-old's alarming decline and the Giants' lack of options at quarterback have this looking like a long season for the Giants. 'They executed it very well'.

The comments from Beckham Jr. reportedly left Giants Head Coach Pat Shurmur "furious" and "absolutely livid". If I can use a couple of extra seconds to go and get an IV and come out, that's really all it was'. Despite Manning's faltering play and a 2-9 record, the way the move was handled was considered disrespectful to the veteran quarterback.
