Iron Fist will not be returning for a season three

Or perhaps you caught wind of the controversy surrounding it due to its casting decisions. Charlie Cox, who stars in the far better "Daredevil", admitted that while the first season of "The Defenders" had its problems, a second season could work. The show, starring Finn Jones, in the lead role had its second season last month.

Marvel and Netflix have cancelled the superhero TV series Iron Fist. "Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is proud of the series and grateful for all of the hard work from our incredible cast, crew and showrunners", read the statement.

Jones posted a heartfelt message via Instagram on Friday night, thanking fans and executives alike for the opportunity the series gave him.

Jones starred in the comic-book drama as Danny Rand, a billionaire who fought crime with the help of the mystical power of the Iron Fist. If Netflix wasn't pleased with the viewer count and reception Iron Fist was getting, maybe Disney will salvage the series and continue the story on their own streaming service instead.

Perhaps Iron Fist will continue on Disney's new streaming service that is expected to launch next year. It was boring and uninteresting, and nearly derailed the Netflix Marvel strand - The Defenders, the big team-up mini-series that should have been the culmination of all the hype, was met with general apathy from audiences. Cast members on the series that as most recently run by Raven Metzner were informed of the cancellation in the last few hours, I hear. But if there's one thing we know for certain, is that the likes of Danny Rand, the Daughters of the Dragon and Typhoid Mary aren't exactly known for staying down long. Neither Netflix nor Marvel explained why the show was being cut, but a likely reason could be low viewership.
