Will you be getting Google's new Pixel 3 phone?

Google finally unveiled the new Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL earlier this week, putting an end to all the leaks and rumors that have been flooding the web for months.

This change makes a lot of sense since the USB-C buds that Google includes in the box with the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL can do real-time translations. If the Pixel 3 notices something amiss - perhaps a person blinked, or there was unintended motion - it'll recommend you switch to another frame. As expected, most of the comments were about the phone's display notch while others focused on an outdated design and the phone's price tag.

It's not clear exactly which phones use this new backup functionality, but Android 9 Pie is one of the requirements.

What's also interesting to note, and isn't featured in the Wired story, is that Google never mentioned a DxOMark rating for the Pixel 3 camera, while it insisted on sharing those scores during previous Pixel launches. There's a 12.2-megapixel, f/1.8 aperture main lens on the back of either new Pixel, and a pair of front-facing cameras - one of which incorporates a wide-angle perspective. You no longer need to manually unlock the phone to wake the Google Assistant. That means it has Google's latest smartphone operating system - minus the unnecessary layers, or skins, that so many other phone makers put on top of Android in their own devices.

That's all great, but for three years now, Google has made a decision to stick with a single rear camera for its flagship Android smartphones. The dual-lens selfie cam exists exclusively to facilitate wide-angle selfies that fit more into the frame. These Duplex features are definitely United States only (for now at least) coming to the Pixel 3 first, with the Pixel 1 and 2 getting access in November.

"If the phone starts somewhere between 12 to 24 months in advance [of shipping], the camera starts six to eight months before that", Reynolds said. As Google explained during the event, its sole objective is to let people capture wide-angle selfies without the help of a selfie stick.

Google held a launch event on 9th October, which is known as "Made by Google".

However, the regular Pixel 3 does have larger bezels overall. Apple's iPhone XS has a secondary telephoto lens so it uses optical zoom up to 2x, while the Pixel 3 uses digital zoom. Currently, the Huawei P20 Pro is at the top (image above), followed by the iPhone XS Max.
