Depay celebrates his goal.

Memphis Depay scored one goal and put in an exhilarating all-round display as the Netherlands outclassed Germany 3-0 in their UEFA Nations League clash at the Johan Cruyff Arena on Saturday.

Joachim Low's Germany, who won the World Cup in 2014, have now only won three of their past 12 matches.

Boss Ronald Koeman will be keen to secure all three points after a 2-1 defeat against France has left them bottom of League A Group 1.

The last goal Germany scored in a competitive match was Toni Kroos' memorable last-gasp victor against Sweden at the World Cup this summer.

They face a tough task in their next match on Tuesday, 16 October as they visit world champions and Nations League Group A1 leaders France. With Neuer in no-man's land, Virgil van Dijk headed into the empty net.

That miss proved costly, as with Germany pushing for an equaliser, they gave the ball away and Promes set up Depay to score in the 86th minute.

However he couldn't do much about the other two goals, with Depay scoring on the counter and then Georginio Wijnaldum hammering in the third.

Substitute Leroy Sane, controversially left out of Germany's World Cup squad and with much to prove in a national team jersey, was played into acres of space in the box but fired wide when he looked certain to score his first worldwide goal.
