The story of former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez has just received another dark, complex and tragic element added to its many layers.

Hernandez, who was convicted of murdering Odin Lloyd in 2013, killed himself in his prison cell in 2017.

The team's investigation included interviews with Hernandez's former teammates, friends and family members and recordings of nearly 300 phone calls Hernandez made from prison while serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole for the murder of Odin Lloyd in 2013. At times, the beatings coincided with Dennis' drinking. SanSoucie claims that he and Aaron enjoyed a sexual relationship from time to time. Neither person was willing to identify the alleged abuser.

In high school Dennis SanSoucie and Aaron Hernandez had become something of a phenomenon on the football team.

"I picked up the phone once to call, to seek help", Jonathan said to the Globe about the abuse.

"I remember he wanted to be a cheerleader".

Their father, Dennis, died during Aaron's junior year of high school.

The relationship coincided with Hernandez' marijuana use, which began with a teammate in high school.

Jonathan Hernandez also said that their father beat them regularly when they did not live up to his standards. "Me and him were very much into trying to hide what we were doing".

Jonathan went on to tell the Globe about how he ruled his family with an "iron fist", which many believe had Aaron hiding his sexuality. According to the report, he smoked before school, before practice and after games.

Jonathan said that Aaron disclosed later in his adult life that he had been sexually molested as a young boy.
